SQL DBA / Developer

Job Responsibilities:

The role is responsible to design, build, maintain and implement the standard database products for Arnett Group clients. This individual is expected to actively participate in defining standards and data models. In addition, the Database Developer will be asked to evaluate and recommend technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for the database platform and applications. This individual may also be asked to participate in the development of applications that access the database. Job Location(s): National Employment Type: Full Time

Skills and Qualifications:

Design, development, and testing with Microsoft SQL Server, including: Creating high performance queries, stored procedures and other database optimizations. Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues. Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with managers, clients, and other stakeholders. Design functional processes that adhere to WD product standards. Assist with capacity planning and resource expansion to ensure scalability of the WD database product. Assist with the design of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets. Design and deploy data table structures in compliance with the marketing database specifications. Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts. Work with other team members to develop processes to support campaign management and business intelligence. Develop automated database applications, when possible, using the applicable database tools or packages. Work with project managers to ensure that functions and processes meet business requirements for project completion. Identify inefficiencies in the WD database platform and provide solutions to the database team. Mentor and/or provide leadership to junior members of the team.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering. Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server / Oracle. .NET (C# or VB.NET) or other programming experience. 3+ years of work experience in SQL server creating complex queries and stored procedures. Strong understanding of T-SQL, Stored Procedures and Indexes. Working technical experience with designing, developing and supporting multi-terabyte database environments. Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Hands-on experience with transforming business requirements into data processes. Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products. Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Minimum 2-3 years of increasingly responsible technical support experience. Outstanding grasp of information technology concepts and processes.
